Hiro
Gender: Male
Age: 17
Height: 5'4"
The only family Hiro felt he needed was his mother, who never resented him or his disability, unlike his father. When Hiro's father learned of his hearing impairment, he blame Hiro's mother and filed for divorce. Though Hiro was too young at the time to know, the separation of his parents made him more pessimistic than the other children at school.
Staying strong, Hiro's mother instead invested in hearing aids for him and learned sign language along with him. Once Hiro needed a babysitter, he was excited to see that he also had been learning sign language, so he wouldn't have to speak to him verbally as often. One day, his babysitter's father brought along a girl who became fast friends with him and eventually tried learning sign language as well. Hiro was happy with the company of his mother, Aaron, and this girl.
Two years after the girl appeared, Hiro's mom had a new boyfriend and remarried a year later. Unfortunately, this man was not as understanding as his mother, and unlike anyone else, he was stubborn and unwilling to understand, to the point where he refused to take up sign language. Once Hiro's mother caught on to how his stepfather was acting, she called him out on it and was threatened into submission. Hiro does not like speaking to his stepfather, even verbally, so he keeps to himself whenever his stepfather is around.
