10-year-old me could have a pretty mean roleplay
Okay, I planned to make a comic series about Sea just because her backstory, decided by a roleplay between me and Ancylo's owner, Miranda (crazy4cowz) was that interesting. But it didn't work out, so I'll just tell it to ya. In addition, Char is a neopet owned by my friend Kanga (on her side account kangaruue).
Though she doesn't look the part, Sea is listed as a criminal on Krawk Island. A diamond necklace, given to her by her late mother, was her prized possession. Sea's father told her not to lose it, and by golly he meant it because soon enough, it gets stolen from her. The process of it getting stolen was only mentioned in the roleplay so I rewrote it - Ancylo's crew invade their underwater home to go looting, and Sea's necklace is swiped right from her neck. It was then presented to the queen (rewritten since the roleplay- governor) of Krawk Island who hoarded it. The crew only did it for a reward that they never got. Sea has limited energy she uses to walk on land, and used her energy to sneak into the treasury to retrieve her diamond. She succeeded, but they figured out it got stole and now she's listed as a criminal.
Since then, her father had long passed away, so Sea is watched over by her friend, Char, and instructor, Malria, who tells her that going to the shore is dangerous. Ahaha... Sea doesn't listen. She finds the ship yet again and goes to investigate. She soon is discovered, and before she can escape, Ancylo realizes that she was spying on the ship. Oh yeah, the criminal! So he helps her aboard and sends her to his cabin to interrogate her. Sea explains why she needs her necklace and Ancylo sympathizes with her, so he decides to keep secret the fact that he's helping the criminal. And Sea soon gets the doki-dokis for her not-quite enemy. Unfortunately, by the time Ancylo figures this out, he has to break it to her that his heart belongs to his wife who was lost at sea (no pun intended).
The crew captures Sea and is greatly confused when Ancylo insists they let her go. Ancylo's pappy, Captain Scarblade, soon finds out that he's in cahoots with the criminal and is furious that not only has his son gone soft, he's keeping his crew from getting that danged ransom money for turning her in. He gives him an ultimatum: "Get rid of that girl, or I'll get rid of her myself." Ancylo is greatly troubled because he cares deeply for Sea (albeit in a platonic sense) but knows that, among the hardened hearts of the pirate crew, he's the only one who will sympathize with her. The next time Sea and Ancylo have one of their secret meetings, he tells her that they must not meet again until Sea's crime is forgotten, or possibly never meet again. Sea is mortified and asks why. He begrudgingly admits that his father plans on turning her in or possibly murdering her if she does not return the diamond and stop visiting Krawk Island.
Instead of heeding her unrequited love's will, she stays and decides to take on this so-called Captain Scarblade, as someone wishing to kill her over her diamond made her very concerned. Meeting him by chance on a dock, Sea asks him if he is Scarblade, which he answers yes. This is the two's first --- and last --- meeting. Instead of talking things out, they have an intense duel on the dock, Sea wielding her Maractite best and Scarblade with his fine sharp sword. Though Sea is nearly totaled in the battle (she was never a fighter), she manages to land a stab right through Scar's heart, causing him to keel over. The relief of victory and her life secured is cut short when she later discovers that Captain Scarblade was Ancylo's father.
Char flips out when Sea confides with her, saying it's immoral for any mermaid to kill a landdweller (apparently not even in self-defense). Ancylo returns from a voyage to give Sea a necklace he bought (instead of pilfering?). Char then tries to explain and take the blame for Sea's actions, but Sea pushes her aside and explains the whole ordeal. Ancylo is distraught and claims that he needs time to think. He left on that ship alone, and hadn't returned since. And that's how the roleplay ended.
For the next few years, Sea has been spiraling deeper and deeper into a delusion that one day, Ancylo will return on that ship and allow her to reconcile with him. He'll accept her once again, one day, it doesn't even have to be romantically. The truth is, in the back of her mind she knows that he's likely dead, but has succumbed to the delusion that he's coming back.
